It seems that we are daily exposed to news stories where children have lost a parent or both parents.  The accident of Natasha Richardson leaving her very busy husband with young teenagers to raise.  Locally, a widowed mother who had recently remarried died with her new husband leaving young children to be cared for by an older daughter.

WHY DID’T I HEAR ABOUT THAT?

Why don’t we hear about what is happening to the children after such events?  Because these are not public matters.  The court documents dealing with minor children are sealed and the hearings are not public.  We hear from the books and articles that are written when the children are grown, and for the most part, the results are not too good.  It is the rare person who will raise someone else’s children as their own.  Children feel out of place even in the best of circumstances, if the parents are not careful to see the needs of these youngsters.  Money from life insurance and other sources is handed to the young persons too early and is squandered leaving them financially and emotionally impoverished.  Deeply desiring a “home” of their own where someone will love and care for them, children flee into the arms of the first person who shows them affection.  Immature relationships lead to promiscuity, divorce, inability to establish lasting intimacy and substance abuse.

NOT AT ANDERSON, DORN & RADER

We are dedicated to see that this does not happen to our clients.

Our K.I.S.S the Kids Workshops will equip you with all the tools you need to see that you have not only provided for the kids while you are raising them, but also taking care to see that they will be independant and sucessful if you should not be around to see to it yourself.  If you visit the site at a time when no workshop is scheduled, attend one of our Legacy and Wealth Planning Seminars and we will cover the rest in your free consultation.
